Please read the following information before completing your application. A separate application form is required for each position title.

Completing the Application


Applicants must complete an application and applicant questionnaire (when applicable) for each position. Please follow the instructions shown on the application and applicant questionnaire. If you need more space, you may attach additional sheets. All applications must be completed in full. A resume may be attached to provide additional information but does not take the place of completing the application and applicant questionnaire. A complete and accurate application is essential, since this is the primary source used for determining your qualifications. Incomplete applications may be rejected.

Please note the education and/or experience requirements listed in the Job Description for each job. These are minimum standards which all applicants must meet in order to be considered for employment. All employees are required to provide proof of identity and authorization of employability.

Vacant positions are advertised on our Job Openings page, Courthouse bulletin boards, Human Resources Office and on various bulletin boards throughout County Departments.  Applications are accepted only for positions which are currently open and being advertised.

A completed Oconee County application should only be received in the Human Resources Office.

Application Review


Every application received is reviewed for completion by the Human Resources Office. Applications will be forwarded to the appropriate department for consideration. This does not guarantee an interview for the position.

Interviews


Hiring departments select applicants for interviews from the applicant pool who are referred by the Human Resources Office. The hiring department notifies the persons selected for scheduled interviews by telephone or letter. Applicants will be contacted only if selected for an interview.

After the interviews, the hiring department makes a selection of the most suitable candidate, notifies the Human Resources Office and returns all applications to the Human Resources Office.

The hiring department contacts the selected candidate for offer of employment subject to passage of a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check and Driver's History check when appropriate. Upon positive results of the appropriate screening(s), the hiring department contacts the applicant and finalizes the offer of employment.

All candidates who are interviewed, but not selected, are informed of the decision.
