Information Technology Department Mission:  The mission of the Information Technology (I.T.) Department is to insure the county has the computer equipment, software and communications equipment needed to perform at its optimal level and that county staff is trained and comfortable working with said equipment.  The Information Technology Department supports all county departments with individual computer assistance as well as with the compilation and maintenance of data in the form of a Geographic Information System (GIS).  It is also the responsibility of the Information Technology Department to maintain the county's internet presence and telecommunications services in a manner that is beneficial to residents and others seeking information about Oconee County and its government.

Information Technology Department Responsibilities:  Monitoring and maintaining county websites; providing training for all county employees on relevant computer systems; creating and maintaining the OCGIS/GIS system and all related data projects for internal departments and citizens; technical support and upgrade services to departments relating to hardware and software; analyzing the county's Information Technology needs and providing alternatives for meeting those needs; negotiating contracts and providing project management services to departments; procurement of all technical equipment and software; and telecommunications administration and support including phone system.
