Code Enforcement
Mission
The mission of the Code Enforcement Department is to preserve and promote public safety and welfare, protect property and assist the public. The department accomplishes its mission by regulating and controlling the design, construction, occupancy, use and location of facilities within Oconee County.
Responsibilities
Assist the public with information concerning construction codes; review commercial building plans and soil erosion plans; issue building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, gas, logging, sign, driveway and soil erosion permits; assist with parade, road race, solicitation and canvassing permits; insure Oconee County's ordinances and guidelines are current with state and federal mandates; coordinate with engineering, planning, property appraiser, utility department, health department and other offices and departments on property and land uses; maintain permanent county records; assist the public with and issue Occupation Tax and Home Occupation licenses.
