NO GEORGIA WEAPONS CARRY LICENSE WILL BE ISSUED WITHOUT THE APPLICANT APPEARING IN PERSON AND PAYING THE REQUIRED APPLICATION FEE IN THE PROBATE COURT.


 Hours: 
 
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

No weapons licenses issued on Thursdays.

Requirements:

In order to begin the process to make application for issuance of a Georgia Weapons Carry License, the on-line application (Link is at the bottom of this page) is mandatory and requires an Oconee County street  address.  No P.O. Box addresses will be accepted. The applicant must be 21 years old or older. The applicant will be required to come to the Probate Court Office, where additional application paperwork will be required. Applicant must show proof of an Oconee County street address, by providing a valid Georgia driver’s license or Georgia issued photo i.d. or most recent utility bill.  In addition to the application, the applicant’s photo will be taken by court personnel at that time.  At the end of the application it has, "Call for an appointment" That is incorrect, NO APPOINTMENT IS NEEDED. Fingerprinting:

First time applicants or applicants with an expired weapons carry license will be required to be fingerprinted at the Oconee County Jail after leaving the Probate Court office.

Cost of License:

First time applicant or applicant with expired weapons carry license:
 $73.25 cash or
 $76.18 credit card

Renewal Applicant - $30.00

A weapons carry license, may be renewed within 90 days prior to its expiration and no more than 30 days after its expiration.

 Please Note: WHEN PAYING BY CREDIT CARD, A USER FEE WILL BE ADDED.

All licenses must be entered as new, regardless of if they are new or a renewal.
