Award recognizes ongoing efforts to protect local environment
The Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission recently received a 2022 Governor’s Circle Award, presented by the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, in recognition of the Commission’s exemplary work in litter reduction, waste minimization, and community greening.
In order to qualify for this award, the Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission conducts an annual litter index, engages volunteers to take responsibility for their community environment, and actively participates in the Keep Georgia Beautiful network, among other requirements.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for the ongoing work we do to ensure that our community is clean, green, and beautiful,” said Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission Executive Director Cindy Pritchard. “Our volunteers and partners continually exceed all expectations in their support of our mission and their passion for beautification, recycling, and reduction of litter and waste.”
The Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission was also recognized by the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation for a variety of accomplishments, including decreasing litter for the fifth consecutive year, increasing beautification projects, and providing middle and high school students in public, private, and home schools with the opportunity to take an active role in local environmental issues through programming and events.
